2025 Renault Filante Record

In an effort to smash EV range records, Renault has developed the retro-futuristic Filante Record prototype. With a focus on aerodynamics and low weight, Renault have described the model as a “laboratory on wheels” that will make a record attempt for the longest EV range in the first half of 2025. It also continues the bloodline of record-breaking Renault prototypes from the past like the 1925 40 CV des Records, the 1934 Nervasport des Records, and the 1956 Étoile Filante.

Renault collaborated with Ligier Automotive for this project, which measures 5.12m long and just 1.19m tall whilst only weighing 1,000 kilograms. The styling is all about a streamlined shape that was based on CFD models and wind tunnel tests, so it should boast an impressive drag coefficient. With only 87 kWh of battery fitted, Renault haven’t tried to squeeze in a monster battery pack, instead they hope of the combination of lightweight and good aerodynamics will be enough to set a new EV range record.
